Can I vary laser intensity? (DVD laser pointers and Potentiometers)?

Alright, I’m making a burning laser pointer and I have all the components for a driver and I also have a diode ready. BUT i was wondering if I could perhaps attach a potentiometer to the circuit possibly from the positive battery terminal to the LM317 to vary the laser’s intensity… I’d appreciate any info you could give me on attaching something of the sort. If you’d like to see the driver, then here’s the tutorial I’m using…

Mercedes Benz V class auto transmission gears slipping?

Hi,
We have just purchased a 1998 V class 230 Ambiente van.
The van was driving fine until we took it to exmoor for a few days with the children and ended up having to be towed home 3 days later.It started when we unintentionally ran the van down on petrol and after driving up and down alot of exmoors beautiful but very steep hills (porlock in particular!).First the brake warning light came on, then the car became jerky when accelerating followed shortly after by the gears sticking and finally getting stuck in 4th gear.We brought the van to a stop for a while and then resumed our journey- the van was jerky but ok for a while but then started sticking again.The transmission warning light keeps flashing and then stays on when the gears are at their worst .The transmission oil is full.
We are getting it towed to a garage in the week and are scared that the gearbox has gone. If anyone has any answers or ideas we would be most appreciative,

Fixed blade under 3 inches?

Does anyone know of any fixed blade knives that have a blade length of no less than 2- 1/2 inches but no more than 3? And I am only interested in the tanto, drop point and to a lesser extent, the bowie blade shapes. I am also looking in the under $75 price range.

Vulcanus, believe it or not, disposable razor blade style knives are specifically prohibited in my city.
hreobeo… that website has it backwards, it’s not that the knife blade has to be over 3 inches, it has to be under 3 inches long. State, city and district laws and statutes all say has to be under 3 inches.

Can the spy pen be used after removing the used videos?

The spy pen i have cannot be used after the maximum usage (3.5 GB) can the used photo\video be removed and used again

What would be good to take with me on a walk in the summer?

I am an avid photographer/writer, and I sometimes do my best thinking outside. This is why on Monday I was planning to maybe take a walk around my community and sit in a park or by a lake and take some photographs and maybe get some writing done.

So here’s my actual question. What would be good for me to take? Obviously I’m going to take a notebook/pen/camera, and most likely my iPod and phone (my mom would spazz if I didn’t take that). But what else?
Water, a snack, and money are good ideas (can’t believe I didn’t think of that)! Maybe sunglasses and a hat too…?

I’m probably going to end up bringing some kind of bag because I don’t want to lose anything.
