anyone work in argos? returning goods……….?

i bought this digital recorder – http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5322312/Trail/searchtext%3EDIGITAL+RECORDER.htm on 15th december and was told it was exempt from the 30 day guarantee & could only be returned if faulty. it works ok but it switches itself off (is on when i go to bed but off when i get up) which means i cannot set it to record any programmes early in the morning. would i get a refund because of this? thanks.
