how to get a girlfriend?

I am a nerd, in highschool, I just moved here (so have no friends) and suck at making friends. Also, I am a gamer/computer nerd type. Any suggestions other than join clubs and be “confident” out there?

or is that the only good advice

Any suggestions on how to get rid of shyness? That I think is the main factor here (I don’t even feel comfortable holding eye contact with people)
